County School Superintendent
Alderman says the school laws
passed by the legislature will not
be in force until M ay 25.
The grand, tota l o f the money
appropriated by the legislature
w ill amount to more than five
dollars for every man, woman
and child in the state.
It is no uncommon thing to
see women and girls at the store
or postoifice with coin tied up in
the corner o f a dainty white
handkerchief, unmindful o f the
fact that this same piece of money
has probably quite recently been
carried in the pocket of the filthi
est Dago in the country. Tender
babies are also given pieces o f
money for playthings by un
thinking mothers, when if there
is any truth in the theory o f dis
ease germs being carried about
from person to person, probably
no other way could be suggested
that would more surely subject
the little ones to the chances for
“ catching” the w orst forms o f
disease that are going the rounds.
A readable article will be found
in this issue o f the Graphic under
the head of "F ilthy Lucre” which
is well w orth the attention o f
the public. ’
