Dr. H. D. Bówers was recently
asked again “ Do you give ex
aminations for nothing?” Yes,
when the patient takes treat
ment. Osteopaths everywhere
charge three dollars ($3) for ex
amination when nothing else is
wanted. It is often of inestim
able vaine ito the invalid to get
an examination and the doctor’s
opinion and his prospects o f cure
from the conditions found. T o
be called away from the office to
the home is the greater reason
for charging. Osteopaths spend
three years o f their time and hun
dreds o f dollars in learning their
profession. And their knowl
edge is o f special value to the
sick. There is as much reason
for them to charge as there is
for the M. D.’s to charge for
making a visit. And yon can
put the visits in your eye that
they make gratis—and no one
has a right to criticise them-for
it either. They spend their time
and money in acquiring their ed
ucation.
Osteopaths spend nine months
in the year. Any college that
attempts to put out graduates
in less than three year’s attend
ance o f nine months each will
be thrown out o f the “ National
Osteopathic Association.” All
the Osteopathic colleges must
comply with the law. It is true
that the course in the Medical
colleges is strung out over four
(4) years, but in the majority o f
cases it is only six months in the
year.
Who will point out to me
the advantage of a four years’
course o f six months each? I
am ready to be “ shown.”
