Short speech­ es were made by the new officers, on installation, indicative o f the energy and purpose w ith which they enter upon the w o rk in this, the Centennial year. Attention w a s called to the WriUamette Valley Development League convention to be held at Salem M arch 23rd, and the vital importance to Newberg, ot some o f the questions to be considered w a s emphasized. It w a s urged th at a delegation be present from Newberg. C. J. E dw ard s, w h o has given tw o years o f efficient service as president of the B o ard o f Trade, F. H . C ald­ well, C. C. Ferguson, H . R. M o r­ ris a n d Clarence Butt were ap ­ pointed by the president as dele­ ga te s to the Salem meeting. The convention o f the Oregon Development League is to be held in Portland, April 4th and 5th, and as a large attendance from here is desired, it w a s voted th at a ll present consider them- results must certainly come to Yamhill if the w ork then out­ lined and discussed is prosecuted w ith vigor. There w a s a good attendance from Newberg, au g­ mented by the presence o f visi­ tor's from McMinnville, Dayton and more immediate points. Am ong the county seat visitors were Hon. C. V. G allow ay, Re­ corder and M rs. D. H . Turner, Judge B. F. Rhodes, Clerk G. W . Jones, E ditor W . C . H agerty o f the Telephone Register, John W ortm an and others. In the forenoon the Yamhill County B o ard o f Exhibit met and further perfected plans for the county’s display a t the L ew is and C lark fair. In the afternoon meeting these plans were displayed by J. C. Cooper, Who w ill have charge of the ex­ hibit, and were received with in­ terest and approbation. They show that the B oard is doing some good head w o rk and it re­ mains for the citizens of the county to co-operate to w ard the fulfillment o f the plans laid out. There w a s also in the forenoon an informal meeting o f represent­ atives of the McMinnville De­ velopment League and N ew berg B o ard o f Trade, for discussing and considering the very impor­ tant question o f better trans­ p ortation service.
