Station \gent Satcbwell Loses
w a s conducted b y E lder Skeels.
His Position.
On the noon freight Wednesday
arrived the auditors of the W ells
Fargo Company and of the South
ern Pacific, bringing with them
G . W . Cutts of Sbedds to super
sede H. R. Satcbwell as station
agent at this place. Thus the ax,
which has been hanging over the
latter’s head since the depot safe
was robbed of the express package
considerably over a year ago, has
fallen. Mr. Satcbwell says he is
not surprised at the outcome. He
has persistently refused to make
good the loss, amounting to eleven
hundred and eighty dollars, and as
a result his surety company can
celled his bonds, which fact is as
good as a dismissal at the hands of
the Southern Pacific.
The people of this community
stand by Mr. Satchwell and sym
pathize deeply with him in his mis
fortune. They feel that he was in
no way responsible for the loss and
that bis stand • is the proper one.
H e has not decided as to future
plans but hopes to get into some
other business.
Mr. Cutts,' who is no stranger
here, is at the helm temporarily.
The officials say the office will be
thrown open to bidr, the seniority
rule to be applied. W illard Satch
well retains his position as assistant
operator.
