g a llo n s a day, of w hich 40,000,000 g a l­
lons is used fo r m un icip al purpose*

T he cost of the project is p u t ut $ 2,200, -

aea w a te r is said to be equal to tw o, or
even three, w ith fresh w ater. It p re ­
v e n ts the decom position of stre et refuse,
i t is effective fo r flushing sewers, and
p a rtic u la rly valu ab le fo r the e x tin c tio n
of fire. Of its valuo to h e alth th e re is
n o doubt, anti it w ould bo easy to su p ­
p ly it to hospitals aud to schools for
sw im m in g baths.
