in May and the carrots were pulled the
29th of December. Mr. Smith raised one
hundred bushels this year from seven
ounces of seed. They make splendid feed a n d

—Two weeks ago F-mith Pros., proprie­
tors of ihe Pioneer Stable, inserted a no­
tice in the G raphic , offering a reward for
a stolen horse and for tho arrest of 11. •

a letter in answer to the ‘ad’, saying that
such a horse had been sold at Damascus.
Levi Smith left at once to see if it was the
stolen horse, and found both the horse
and saddle. He returned and on Monday,
Smith Bros., accompanied by Fred
Churchman and Mr. Mauppin, went
down to prove the property and bring it
homo. They returned Wednesday night
with the horse, saddle, bridle and halter.
The only thing they failed to get was the

On New Years Eve a company of young
folks stuitcd from town in a wagon with
no spring seats but plenty of side boards.
They came to a halt at the residence of
Mr. and Mrs. Alf Reese, about 11 miles
from town. Mr. and Mrs. Iicene were
not expecting company, but they noon
adjusted themselves to the merriment of
tlie visitors, and a pleasant time was the
result. The time was agoeablv spent in
playing games, pulling taffy and making
popcorn balls. They t aw tho olJ year
out and Ihe new year in. They then

selves at tho proper slreet corners, all
feeling that they had a good time.
