Institute, the W ar D epartm ent
has disclosed.
The shipm ent and distribution
of this m aterial is being han­
dled by the W ar P risoners Aid
of th e YMCA, a m em ber agency
of the N ational W ar Fund, the
WD said. An Education Center
is lieing established at Geneva,
Sw itzerland, w here the program
will l>e carried out.

A near record crowd of ap­
proxim ately 500 soldiers and
th eir guests attended the dance
a t the Service Club W ednesday
night, a check of attendance rec­
ords revealed. Music w as provid­
ed by the Cam p Abbot dance
band.
CAMP ABBOT THEATRE PROGRAM
To Give Color to Shows
Stage presentations and dances
at the Service Club w ere expect­
ed to take on additional color
this week w ith th e arriv al of
two pow erful incandescent spot­
lights c o m p l e t e w ith color
wheels and six “baby” spot­
lights. The lighting equipm ent
is available to all u nits for spe­
cial p r o g r a m s and m ay be
checked out from th e Service
Club, Capt. V. G. Henderson,

week outlined th e responsibility
of unit com m anders in connec­
tion w ith th e safety of person­
nel and p ro p erty u nder the ac­
cident prevention program s e t
forth in Supplem ent No. 1 to
A dm inistrative Memo No. 7.
Under th e program , each op­
eratin g head of a sta ff division
and each unit com m ander is a
unit safety officer. In addition
to enforcing post safety regula­
tions, m aking reg u la r inspec­
tions, and assu rin g prom pt first
aid for in ju red personnel, he is
charged w ith th e investigation
of accidents, m aking recommen­
dations fo r th e elim ination of
the responsible conditions, and
suggesting to th e post safety
officer corrective action beyond
th e scope of his own authority.
The unit com m ander also now
assum es, besides his form er ac­
tivities in enforcing fire regula­
tions and inspecting for fire haz­
ards, the direction of evacuation
of records and property in case
of fire. He will conduct a fire
drill not less th an once every
two weeks.

la st week when the 56th came
out w ith a six-page m im eograph
edition in which all companies
w ere represented.
One section w as devoted to
each of the three companies, and
each contained m aterial of in te r­
est principally w ithin the com­
pany. Com pany B’s section was
entitled “B-56 G rins and G roans,”
and contained an "ear,” read ­
ing “Published: Irreg u larly d u r­
ing 2 min. breaks.” Company A’s
section bore the title, “News
F lashes,” and Co. C’s “The Bull
Sheet.” In the heading of the
la tte r w as a m im eographed “o ut­
house.”
