A new association of the civil
ian employees of Camp Abbot is
rapidly approaching the stages
of final organization, according
to an announcement by J. J.
O’Donnell, Civilian Personnel
head. "The purpose of the organ
ization,” he said, “covers a wide
field of endeavor.” The succes-
ful prosecution of the war ef
fort; a promotion of good will
and fellowship throughout the
post; the improvement of work
ing conditions and facilities; an
outlet for social and recreational
activities, and the relief of civil
ian personnel in emergencies are
some of the aims of the club.
Any civilian employee on the
post is automatically a member
and, at present, there are no
dues. The treasury already
boasts a modest surplus derived
from the organization’s two
social functions, and plans are
afoot to open a clubroom or re
creational hall in Bend.
“We are all set,” said O’Don
nell, “except for one thing. We
need a name for the organiza
tion.”
A prize of ten dollars is offer
ed for the suggestion by any
civilian employee of a suitable
name. Tentatively, the organiza
tion is called The Camp Abbot
Civilian Employees Association.

ted to J. J. O’Donnell, Civilian
Personnel, Headquarters build
ing.
Elected as officers of the new
organization are: Mrs. Margaret
Keith, president; Milo Cooper of
Civilian Guard, vice-president;
Mrs. Louise Lee, secretary, and
Mary (Pat) Boles, treasurer.
Acting in an advisory capacity
on the Board of Governors are
Rose L. Strathdee and J. J.
O'Donnell.

their hunger for good music,
