Command.
Spending a lull day at the
post, Col. Kitson saw trainees
firing on the machine gun and
rifle ranges, run infiltration
courses, erect floating bridges
and practice defensive warfare
against moving tanks. As the
final demonstration of the day
he witnessed the blowing up of
a bridge by a special demolition
squad. Later he visited the Spe­
cialist schools including opera­
tion of the saw mill, motor pool,
carpentry and demolition and
the general clerical course given
trainees.

PIN-UPS FOR CHIN-UPS
The I. O. O. F. Lodge in Bend
has announced its intention to
furnish a day room for the 52nd
Engr. Tng. Bn., Mr. Frank J.
Dunning, Red Cross field direc­
tor and coordinator for the
camp and hospital committee in
charge of the furnishing pro­
gram, said Friday.
The 52nd day room will be the
fourth furnished by Bend or­
ganizations. A 55th Bn. room
was furnished by the Elks Club
recently and dedicated last week,
and a medical detachment day
room has been furnished by the
Knights of Columbus, the first
Bend organization to pledge
sponsorship. Furnishing of the
51st Bn. room by the Masonic
Lodge and Order of the Eastern
Star also is under way.
Bend Veterans of Foreign
Wars also have pledged support
in furnishing a day room.
