Goldburg) It happens occasionally that th ere are not enough Chaplains to go around. T here may tie a Catholic o r a P ro testan t 'or a .aplain assigned tc ^ A outfit com prising members ul all th ree faiths. In this case the Chaplain m akes every effort to provide religious services for the men of denom inations other than his own. However, th is cannot always be arranged. Then, it is the re sponsibility of the Chaplain, be he Catholic. P ro testan t or Jew ish to hold a general service. This type of service, as the nam e implies, is non-denomina- tional in character. It may in clude one or tw o passages from the Bible, a num ber of hymns and an inspirational message or serm on. The Chaplain is v ' ^ careful in arran g in g a service this kind not to include subject m atter of a controversial nature. When services arranged by a m em ber of your faith are an nounced. then it is to your ad vantage to attend. W hen such services are not available, be su re to atten d the general ser vice planned for you by the Chaplain. It is the Army an swer, th e A m erican answ er to the man in uniform who desires to avail him self of the right to religious worship. Much good will accrue from the fact th a t o ccasio n ally we approach th e throne of the Al m ighty in common prayer, as brothers united in a common purpose. The Divine blessing will rest upon us. if in humility and sincerity, vve lift our voices in praise and thanksgiving. Let no m an yield th a t which is precious to him. individually, in a general service but let every man. a t such a tim e, place special em phasis upon those things common to Catholic, Pro testan t an d Jew.
