master of ceremonies at the station, fum
igates all comers from the west without
regard to rank, station or religion. Each
morning as the western stage passes
this station Mr. Flair fumigates the
driver and all the passengers that may
be aboard. A short time ago Presiding
Elder Summerville, of the Methodist
faith chanced to be passing through on
the stage. Now no one would think for
a minnte that theri- could ever be any
occasion for bringing a Methodist min
ister in contact with fire, sulphur and
brimstone; but that is exactly what hap
pened to this minis»*r; be was placed in

broad minded man Pf took his medicine
philosophically, anl no doubt regarded
it as a divine blessiiii sent upon him to
warm him up after an all night ride in
an open stage.
Rev. Summerville is the same gentle
man who was s.ow bourd last winter in
the head of this mlley. while trying to
get to Paisley to fill a? appointment, at
which time I k had a narrow escape from
freezing to death; but after wading snow
waist deep a part of a day and night, he
finally found a deserted cabin, where,
without board or bed he remained until
rescued later on."
Last fall when in Pa-’fley and while
he and the family with whom he was
stopping were eating supper, the house
took fire and he only saved his life by
fleeing from the flames. Truly our Pre-
siding Elder’s experiences through this
part of his circuit lias been varied and
fraught with danger.
