once a member of a K. of P. lodge at

of signs and gripe he ptlms himself off
as a Knight in distress, and obtains

Los Angeles Record, Nov. 20.]
The Rev. E. A. Ross preached yester
day to two very large congregations at
Peniel hall. His subject in the after
noon was “The Faith That Saves.” Mr.
Ross contrasted true Christian faith,
which saves a man from sin, with a mere
intellectual assent to Christian doctrine.
Continuing, the Rev. Ross said: “A
man only believes in the true sense as
much of the Bible as he lives out. It is
the engrafted word, hidden-in the heart,
which delivers «in, and is able to save
the soul. The world wants to see Chri6-
tains live according to the Bible. As one
has said, ‘God’s best book of Christian
evidences is bound in human skin and is
about six feet high.’ In presenting a
copy of one of his books to his aunt (a
devout Christian), Mr. Ingersoll himself
wrote on the fly leaf: ‘If all Christians
were like my auntie, this book would
not have been written.’ It is a blessed
thing to believe the Bible and to practice
its precepts, but it is a terrible thing to
believe the Bible and not practice its
precepts, for thus it becomes ‘a savior of
death unto death,’ ’’
At the close of both services great in
terest was manifested, and many came
to the altar and were converted. Mr.
Ross leaves for Santa Ana today, but he
will return and hold an all-day meeting
at Peniel hall on Thanksgiving day.
Sant i Ana Herald.]
Evangelist E. A. Ross is preaching
twice a day to large audiences. He is
the typical southern orator possessing
extraordinary endowments of magnetism
and facial expression. His whole person
speaks. His powers for illustration and
expression seem exhaustless. He has
consecrated his talents for ten years to
the service of the Master, and makes
friends for Him wherever he goes.
