Miss Nellie Clark of Medford spent last
week with her friend, Miss Beulah* Moon.
It is an old saying that when it is storm
ing, if there conies 3 new moon, we may
look for pleasanter weather. Now, Mr.
Editor, I don't believe that for we have a
“new Moon” with us all the time, and still
haven’t seen any good weather this spring.
Hurrah for the pops! They are as thick
as three in a bed ana two in the middle, on
thia side of the river, and more joining the
ranks every day, while the republicans and
democrats are scarce as hen teeth.
Mr8. Sarah Collins, who has been serious
ly ill for some time, is greatly improved,
we are glad to say.
Gus William’s many friends in Sams
Valley were glad to see his smiling face
once more, even though his stay among us
was short.
Mart Perry, an estimable young man
and a popular candidate for county com
mi8sioner on the populist ticket, spent
Thursday night with Talent friends. Mart
is an upright and honorable young man
and is fully competent of attending the
duties of the office he aspires to. Sams
Valley will give him a unanimous support,
and judging from reports, the majority of
the precincts in the county will do likewise.
A report has been circulated that he is not
yet twenty-one, which is highly absurd, as
ho one is ever nominated for office unless a
voter. For the benefit of those who have
beard this foolish tale, would say that on
May 26,1896, he had reached his 28th year.
A large and appreciative audience at
tended the populist speaking at Moonville,
May 22nd. A number of candidates were
present and Messrs. Jeffery, Wakefield,
and Schmldtline delivered able discourses.
Charlie Nickell speaks sneeringly of our
populist speakers, but never mind, Charlie,
it’s a long lane that has no turning and
