VIII ASHLAND, JACKSON ASHLAND, OREGON. Chief of the County Papers. Published every Thursday. E. J. KAISER, Proprietor. THURSDAY, AUGUST 22,- 1895, COUNTY, OREGON, NO. 14. * The County Assessment. Assessor Jackson and his deputies are working hard on the assessment of Jack- son county. Last week Manager R. Kohler, R. R. Tax Agent BrethertOn and R. R. Land Agent Andrews came down from Portland to look after tbeir inter ests in the assessment of their extensive property interests. These gentlemen» took issue with Mr. JackBon in his rais ing of the value of the company’s road bed in Jackson county to $10,000 per mile. They failed to convince Mr. Jackson in tbeir view. The railroad officials, in their argument, quote volum inously from the state railroad commis sion to show how much they are losing every year. PRESSED BRICKS.
