Yreka, Cal , April 20.—A Portuguese miner on the Klamath river some dis tance from here met with a terrible acci dent 'lav before yesterdav. While work ing alone, he spliced a roj* used to hoist gravel out of a pit and reset it on a large drum which he started to revolving,when bis leg became entangled in a coil of rope and he was drawn up to the drum. One leg was completely pulled off near the knee, while the other was crushed to a jellv.
