He found that thirty-four years ago the grippe was epidemic among human I ' beings, and that seventeen years ago it attacked horses, causing the well-remem bered “epizootic” epidemic. Gentry was im lined to believe that the earth at inter vale passed through a stretch of space impregnated with what astronomers call "star dust.” bwyeral days ago it oc- <-urred to him hie might trap some of the duet of the microbes. Carefully polian- ing a blank microbe slide, be took it out doors and passed it through the air. Placing the elide under his microscope i hs counted seven heretofore unidentified microbes in the field of the instrument. He had the elide mounted and then ob taining some mucus front a patient af flicted with the la grippe, he found in it tdcrobes identical tn every respect with those caught in the air. The microbes ms des< ribed by Dr. Gentry are generally of a round form, varying occasionally in outline, but always distinctly marked b« a aeries of lines surrounding them : radi ating from these lines are others which resemble firm, irregular hairs [Those la grippie microbes that attacked thia ed itor had tails and cloven hoofs.
