He is the chap who gives you credit when you are financially broke, and carries your account until you are able to pay. He is the chap who gives you back your money or makes exchanges when you are not satisfied with what you have bought. He is the chap who stands behind his guaranty, and makes restoration of all losses that you may sustain on the goods you buy. He is the chap who meets you at the door with a handshake, and lets you out with a message to the “kids” and a real come-again goodbye. He is the chap who meets and greets you on the street every day in the year, and takes a neighborly interest in your family and your affairs. He is the chap whose clerks and bookkeepers and other employes live in town and spend their money with you and with other town people. He is the chap who pays heavy taxes to help support the town schools, and build the town streets, and maintain the town fire departments, and police departments, and parks, and lighting and water service. He is the chap who helps support the town churches and hospital and charity organizations, and the town lodges and commercial clubs, and talks for the town and boosts for the town ' very day in the year. He is the chap who visits you when you are sick, sends flowers to your family when you die, and follows your body out among the trees and tombs, as far as human feet may travel with the dead.—By an Unknown Country Editor. Nilsson the Star Who’s Guilty? Anna Nilsson, co-starred w ith Mr. Tom Moore in "W h o 's G uilty?” the fourteen two-reel series of photo-novels which the Arrow Film Corporation is producing for release through the Pathe E xchanges, was born in H elsingfors, Sweden, ju st tw entyfour years ago. I t is largely an accident—though a very lucky accident—th a t Miss Nilsson is today one of the real screen sta rs of America. T hat accident w as caused by the trium ph of curiosity over caution. Back in Helsingfors Miss Nilsson, as a little girl, knew several fam ilies who in tim e em igrated to the U nited S tates. She kept up a constant correspondence with her young friends and one day was overjoyed to learn th a t tw o of them were returning to th eir home city for a visit. When they got th ere they fired the imagination of A nna Nilsson with th eir tales of the land across the sea; when it came tim e for them to retu rn they took with them the little girl who saw in New York City the place where her youthful am bitions would be ju sti fied. For a tim e all Miss Nilsson did in New York, as she tells it, was to w an der around open-eyed and open-m outh ed. Then she learned to keep her eyes open and her mouth shut, as she puts it, and her ears very ale rt. Quickly she learned the language. And then she m et one of the leading fashion photog raphers of the m etropolis, who was con vinced th a t in Anna Nilsson, then but fifteen years old, was a charm ing sub je c t for the cam era. Also, she could, to use the vernacular, " w e a r clothes.” In a brief time Miss Nilsson had become T H IS OUT i Read the Stories Then See the Pictures! She worked in small p a rts for a tim e: p a rts so sm all, she says, th a t if the audience had winked a t a certain point in the films they would have missed her entirely. For four and a half years Miss N ils son rem ained w ith the Kalem Company appearing in more than 250 pictures in th a t tim e. In the fe atu re p re sen ta tion of “ Shenandoah” Miss Nilsson was sta rred for the first tim e; also, her work in th a t picture established her as one of A m erica’s prem ier screen ac tresses. Upon leaving the Kalem com pany Anna Nilsson w ent to the Fox company, w here she played the lead in “ R egeneration.” W ith Kleine she was featu red in “ The S carlet R oad.” Play ing then opposite R obert W arw ick she appeared in “ To Him T hat H a th ,” one of the big dram atic roles of her career. Chief among Miss N ilsson’s pleasures are swimming and horseback riding. She is a really e x p ert equestrienne, nor does she confine h erself to the bridle paths of C entral P ark.
