mercial Club at the city hall.
Mr.
Perkins is visiting the county to
consult the people here regarding
a scheme for the construction of a
railroad from Roseburg to Coos
Bay. Hb states that Roseburg pro
poses to issue city bonds to tbe
amount of $300,000 for the launch
ing of the project, am! he wants to
know how much moral and financial
support can be expected from Coos
couaty. Tbe scheme seems to be
cone'derably hazy as yet, as it is
conceded that even Roseburg would
havr to amend her charter before
su u a bond issue could be made
L. H . Hazard presided over the
meeting here. He assured Mr. Per
kins of the moral support of our
people for any project that gave
promise of tbe actual construction
of such a road, but said that the fi
nancial end of it required considera
tion, as Coquille as a citv bad on

count of the email number present,
no definite action was taken, but
tbe project will be given further
consideration bv the Commercial

May Give Service
The Herald is informed by W. J.
Rust that W, F. Miller, of the local
railroad is trying to make some ar -
rangemrnt with the Marshfield city
council whereby the requirements
as to the street car service in that
city may be modified in such a way
as to release the motor car from the
necessity of making hourly trips
and give it sufficient lime to make
a trip to Myrtle 1’oiut in the morn
ing and another in the late after
noon. In that case the regular
passenger train would make a trip
in the middle of the day, giving «
a much improved service between
Myrtle Point and the Bay cities
It is stated that, as tbe car is not
now paying expenses, the S P. will
not provide another fof the run to
this s.de, and tbe only solution
aeerns to Ire to give the ear new in
service a chance to make the trip-1

Kindly inform me through the

whether or not there is an ordinance
in the City ol Coquille limiting the

that such an ordinance had been
enacted by the council but, judging
from the speed.at which I have seen
cars traveling in the streets, I am
left in doubt.
It is a common occurrence tor
cars to travel on the Moulton street
