There are now twenty-five m e n ’s leagues for woman suffrage in the United States all of which are ex pected to beccme_ a u x i l i a r ^ t o the national body. The Portland Telegram of a re cent date says complaint is made th at children are stealing flowers from the law ns of residents in that city and in m a n y instances ruining little plots w hich the owners had gone to the trouble and expense of beautifying. Coquille children are n o t averse to acts of this character and it w ould be well tor parents to in stru ct ’their offspring that flowers an d sh ru b bery are regarded as property, and that the tak in g of th e same without permission is a direct violation of a commandment in the Good Book, and all so doing are liable to punishment under our laws.
