The Arab Deputy Game Warden, whose removal from office was re quested by the citizens of Josephine county, came up the coast Friday and has enjoyed himself in town several days playing solo, drinking near-beer and demanding, occasionl- ly , of some of the citizens to show their hunting license. Just at the time when the hills are full of hunters, and more coming in every day, when the Game De partment should have the hunting grounds patrolled by competent men, this expondent of the Oregon Game Law comes leisurely up the county road, has a good time in town several days, goes on up the county road to Bandon to confer with Mr. Morgan, and probably discuss and compare the solo play ers and near-beer of Gold Beach to the solo players aud genuine old lager of Bandon. This efficient game warden is very familiar with the county road, hav ing tramped it repeatedly when a boy, with his father peddling need les and pins and punk jewelry. Is it any wonder that the bonafide citizens of the state are disgusted with the game law, when men who cannot speak the English language and are otherwise wholy incompe tent are made executive officers to enforce the law? It is simply an in sult to American citizenship to have such an element, clothed with authority, domineer over American citizens that have, by their hard la bor and privation, made the coun try what it is to-day. There are competent men, good citizens and tax payers oi Curry, that would accept the office of Depu ty aud patrol the hunting grounds while they are infested with the red necktie sporting class, and save the lives of more deer during open sea son than all the Arabs that ever sold a thimble in Oregon could during the entire year; but such men, for some reason, cannot get the ap pointment. A strong petition ask ing the appointment of E. R. Miller was, for some reason best known to the master Warden, turned down. The appointment of other citizens of Curry has been requested but they, likewise, met the same fate.— Gold Beach Globe. School Fund Apportionment.
