DRBIT IWEM EJTTS
COUNTY COURT
Howard, the eight-year-old son
of Mr. And Mrs. Alfred Morris, of
Bandon, whom we mentioned in our
last issue as being very ill at the
home of T. A. Walker in this city,
passed away on Thursday morning
at five o ’clock. The family came up
the previous Sunday to take part in
the Decoration exercises, and on
their arrival here the boy was com
plaining and soon took to his bed
gradually growing worse till death
relieved him.
The cause of this sudden death
was pronounced by Dr. Riobmnod as
cerebral menengitis, and all who were
in the house have remained in, md
they have allowed no orie to enter
the place, Mr. Walker putting up a
red flag as a precaution in case
there should be danger of con
tagion.
Two weeks previous to his pass
ing away, Howard, with other boys
at B a n d oD , were climbing trees
when lie fell from the one he had
climbed, receiving a very severe jar
r in g up, from which he complained
up to the time he took sick, and it
might be possible that this was re
sponsible for the severity of his
trouble, if not wholly the cause of
his illness.
This is a very sad occurrance for
Mr. and Mrs. Morras, who have the
sympathy of the entire community
in their bereavement.
The interment took place Thurs
day afternoon in the Odd Fellows’
cemetery where a little mound cov
ered with fading roses mark his last
resting place.

COQUILLE, COOS COUNTY, OREGON, WEDNESDAY, JUNE 8, 1910
V ol . 27: No 39
The following we take from the
Umpqua Valley News, and the
Judge Watson referred to is a
cousin of County Clerk and Depnty,
James and R. R. Watson and a son
of Judge E. B. Watson, of Port
land, aDd we feel fuliy justified in
indorsing what the new» save:
Editor News: We are pleased to
note that Judge J. W. Hamilton, on
the eve of his retiring from the
bench after twelve years of office,
has received the indorsement of the
Coos county bar foa past services.
It will be remembesed that tbe last
legislature provided for u new judge
in Coos county, owing to tbe great
amount of legislation there, and the
inability of Judge Hamilton to hold
court long enough to dispose of the
business to the satisfaction of liti
gants The judg's field of duty is
now limited principally to Douglas
county.
Hon. J. W. Watson, it is stated
on good authority, is to succeed
Judge Hamilton, without any oppo
sition, all parties apparently united
for Mr. Watson. Judge Hamilton
no doubt realizes that twelve years
of office is sufficient, and no doubt
the people are of the same view, as
third terms do not meet their ap
proval. Mr. Watson will make a
splendid circuit judge. He has the
ability, moral courage, and an even
disposition so essential to a judge.
Yours,
FOR A NEW JUDGE-
