Besides and opportunity for all to improve their stock at a minimum cost of testing, tbe lower river dairymen have united to have their produce manufactured under one manage ment, and while, as yet, they have not scoured methods wbicb will give them tbe highest possible re turns, nevertheless tbe improvement from their organization is appre ciated when the results of previous seasons is compared with their present offers. Tbe insurance of a correct test, an advance of from two to three cents per pound on butterfat with the natural increase of stock and property value is a decided improvement. The next regular session, Febru ary 9th, will be an important aDd an enthusiastic meeting. W, E. Catterlin, of Tillamook, and Mr. Bessy, of Coos Bay,will address tbe meeting and an important business sesson of tbe United Dairymen will be held. Boats will run to allow a forenoon and an afternoon session. Lunch will be served in tbe ball and every dairyman of our valley ie requested to attend. Federal Dairy Inspector Catter 9 00 lin comes from tbe leading dairying section of tbe coast, aDd since the 32 00 success of that section is due to thorough organization, tbe value of 110 00 bis assistance is much appreciated. 127 50 Tbe stock improvement committee will report some important commu 120 00 nications from Mr. C. Besides tbe allowance of bills and other routine work, tbe county court made a number of orders, among which were tbe following: Approving tbe annual tax levy of 18 mills for general purposes, as well as special taxes of a number of road and school districts ar,d cities. Tbe clerk n ported tbe issuance of warrants on 353 varmint scalps ag gregating $1381. J. M. Blake, of Marshfield, was granted a franchise for an electric railway over the county road be tween Mushfield and North Bend for a term of 50 years, and wbicb provides that the line be in opera tion within 18 months. Tbe contract for the construction of a bridge across South Slougb was awarded Victor Anderson for the gum of $7785. The contract for the care of county hospital patients was award ed Jefl D. WilsoD, of Coquille. Road district 29 was formed, be ing taken wholly from district 4, and other minor changes in boun- dries. Tbe petition for a drainage district in the Norway section was approved by the court and A. J. Radabaugh, R. J. Dean and G. W. Clinton were appointed as trustees. Tbe contract for publishing officers' reports and county notices were awarded the Coquille Valley Sentinel on lowest bid. The pub lishing of county court proceedings was awarded tbe Coos Bay Times and Coquille Herald on largest circulations. Appointee Dist.
