Rowland, former cashier of the Bank of HealdBburg, was sen­ tenced today to six years in San Quentin by Judge Emmet Seawell. Rowland confessed to a shortage of $120,090, then pleaded notguilty and stood trial. He was convicted by a jury ten days ago. A peculiar feature of the case is that the direc­ tors of the bank effected a com. promise with Rowland’s relatives and gave Rowland a receipt in full, also making an entry on the minu­ tes of the board to cover the item.
