In its report to congt ess submitted
February 6th.the Country Life Com
mission lays stress upon two things
as of most importance for the bet
terment of country life, These two
things are education and good road.
While each one may have some par
ticular bobby which he thinks is the
all importance of these two things
and their close relationship one to
the other.
To establish the cen
tralized system or materially iin
prove the country schools in any way
it is first necessary to have good
roads. Rural delivery of mail and
the demand for parcels post also call
loudly for better roads. Many plans
regarding state and federal aid are
being suggested and some of- them
will eventually come through state
and national legislation, but all this
takes time. In the mean time let no
local effort be slackened in the im
provement of the country road while
waiting for the state and govern
ment to act. The old lark moved
her nest when the farmer and bis
sods concluded to do their harvest
ing. If the split log drag is kept
busy all over the country the next
few weeks the effect will be notice
able in much better roads all the
year. Drain the water off and drag
the roads early and often.
Don’t
wait until the farm woav is all done
and the roads are dry and dusty to
do your work.— Rural Spirit.
