The second mouth of school clos
ed with an enrollment of 341. Num
ber of boys in school 169; girls 172.
There were 209 absences during the
month and five tardy marks. Num
ber of pupils neither absent nor
late 190.
In order that there may be a
closer relation between parents and
teachers in regard to the where
abouts of the children attending
the public schools uniform excuse
blanks have been provided and will
be sent to the parents by the child
ren who have been absent. The
parents should fill these out and
send them back not later than the
day following the receipt of same.
Blanks have also been provided for
the teacher to fill out and send to
the parents when any pupil has been
detained after 4:00 p. m. These
blanks tell reason of detention and
number of minutes detained. Any
child detained after school will be
given one of these blanks filled out
and parents should require them of
their children.
The public school is the servant
of the people to the end that boys
and girls may become better citi
zens. The attitude of the parents
in regard to the conduct of their
children is one of the most essential
features of the public schools.
To those parents who have boys
or girls in the basket ball teams I
will say that the girls practice hour
is at 4:00 p. m. and they should
reach home not later than 5:00 p.
m. The boys practice hour is at
7:00 p. m. and they should reach
home not later than 8 : p. m.
Yours for better schools,
Herman O. Anderson.
