Tbe aim and object of Hoo Hoo
j is tbe bringing togetbet of men in
the lumber business and its kindred
linen, with a view of taking off
tbe rough spots which comes from
lack of acquaintance and social in
tercourse. The order is growing
steadily throughout the United
States nnd especially in the West.
Section 1. It being the purpose
o f this Order to gather together in
fraternal relations people engaged
in lumber trade, membership in this
Order shall be limited to white male
persons over the age of twenty-ODe
years, of good moral character, who
possess one or more of the follow­
ing qualifications:
First—They shall bo so engaged,
either in the ownership or sale of
timber lands, timber or logs, or the
manufacture or sale of lumber at
wholesale or retail as that it shall
be their main or principal occupa­
tion, and that it shell be the busi­
ness which is recognized in tbe com­
munity in which they reside as their
vocation. There shall not be ad­
mitted under this paragraph book­
keepers, clerks, inspectors, sawyers,
filers, foremen, oor the ordinary
laborers of lumber enterprises.
It
is tbe intent and meaning of this sec­
tion that every application from nper-
son who does not come clearly anJ
without question within the pro­
visions of this limitation, must be
referred by the Vicegerent Snark to
tbe Snark and Scrivenstor, with a
full statement of all facts beuriug
on the case before any action shall
be taken thereon.
Second—Newspaper men. By this
term being meant only th e.p u b­
lishers, proprietors, or persons r< -
gularly connected with newspapers.
Third —Railroad men. By this
term being meant only general offi­
cers, and assistant freight, pasnen-
ger and claim agents, purchasing
agents, commercial traveling, solic­
iting und contracting freight (not
station agents). This means the
officials of railroads who come in
contact with the patrons of the road.
It does not mean office assistants,
clerks, secretaries or colectors.
Fourth—Sawmill machinery men
By this term being meant persons
engaged in the manufacture nr
sale to lumber manufacturers of
sawmill or planing mill machinery.
Fifth— Only such persons as
come strictly within tbe limitations
above mode are eligible for mem­
bership in the Order, and such per­
sons may be initiated under proper
application, paymeut of initiation
fee and election to membership and
initiation as provided by the ritual
of the Or 1er.
Membership shall
be limited to 99,999 living members
in good standing.
