Tho Revival Services. Coquille Herald- W EDNESDAY, NOY. 27. 1907. Eagles Initiate The big initiation of Eagles took place on Sohedule time last Satur day night and a grand time was en joyed by the participants. The ex cursion train from Marshfield brought n large crowd as did the boat from liandon. There were forty three candidates who were led into tho mysteries of the noble order in such a manner that it would have made our national bird proud had he been a spectator. The W o m a n ’s S tu d y Club. The main work of the club at last meeting was on the subject of Bulwer Lytton. After the usual or. der, biography, estimate and etc., the remaining time was devoted to tho reading of the author’s plays, “ The Lady of Lyons” and the trag edy o f “ Eugene Aram" being the ones previously selected. Current Events occupied the last half hour of the afternoon. For strictly scieutific horse shoe ing, go to Sleeper. The union meetings being con ducted by the Revs. Jones and Gor don are continuing to grow in in terest and the attendance is good. These two gentlemen have had con siderable experience in evangelistic meetings, and work together excell ently. A solo is rendered each evening with a good effect. On Sunday evening the place of meet ing was changed to the M. E . Church which was well filled with a yery attentive audience. The ser mon was by Rev. Jones, and was an inspiring effort. The singing by the choir and congregation is good and all combined go to make it a pleasant and profitable place at which to pass the evening. On Sunday night two small girls went forward and signified their inten tions of being Christians, and, as it were, remaining good, as they were of such tender years that they have no great sins for which to repent, and will rely on the principle that it is better to remain right than to get right. A cordial invitation is extended to all to attend these services. They vis ited New York, Washington, Chi cago and many other leading cities as well as Tulsa, Oklahoma, where they visited Mrs. Davis, a sister of Mr. Folsom. Col. Smith who moved to town lately and is becoming pleasantly located in rooms over Drane’s store, has purchased the abstract plant compiled by C. S. McCulloch, ex county surveyor, and his father, the well-known abstracter, and will at once proceed to install a complete and up-to-date office. The Col. is well known here, having been con nected with the Title, Guarantee and Abstract Co. for about two years and is thoroughly convers ant with the work. He will also conduct a little law business in con nection therewith.
