We are in receipt of a letter from F. M. Langlois, whom wo recently mentioned as having received some fine thoroughbred Cotswold sheep from a Wisconsin farm, which he offers the following corrections and further information concerning the sheep: “ The ram came from E ng land and rested one week in Wis consin and was then forwarded on here, and according to the Secretary of the Cotswold Association there are only 4 rams of his age—one year old— in America that are larger than he is, and these four were fitted up for show purposes. The one I got weighs nearly 300 lbs. The two ewes that came with the ram were yearlings and both from imported sire and dam. About six weeks ago I received three fine ewes, one of them having taken first prize at the International and Charlston when one year old. These also came from England.” Mr. Dow informs us that a new, large and commodious dock is to be constructed at the river directly even with his new warehouse, anil a substantial incline from it to the warehouse, and that all goods g o ing through his hands will be put on board the steamers without be ing hauled around to the city wharf. A gasoline engine will be put in place to do the hard pulling when goods are brought up from the steamers. It is probable that a switch will be put in between the depot and warehouse in the near future to further fucilitate the hand ling of frieght. These will be great couveneinces. It has agaio become our dnty to chronicle the demite of a Coos coun ty pioneer. This time it iB our old friend, N. W. Moon, of near Fair- view, who lays down the cares and troubles of this world and goes on to received his reward in the great beyond. The subject of this sketch was born at Morgantown, Pennsyl vania, April 25,1813, where he lix ed till a young mau when be went to New Orleans, at which place he re main ed till the breaking out of the civil war when he went to Kansas where he joined the army, and in which state be met Miss Nancy L. Flinn to whom be was married in 1863. To this union were born eleven cbildreu— ten sons and one daughter, the latter and four sons of whom, with their mother, survive him. After the war was over he moved to California where they re mained till 1875 when they moved to Coos county and located near Fairview where he, with the help of his sons, made a good farm. The deceased was a member of Gem Lytle. Post, G. A. R., and had been a life long Odd Fellow, having join ed that order as early in life as eligible at Jsnive, Pennsylvania. A few days before his death he called all his children to his bedside and talked to them. He retained consciousness up to within an hour or so before the end came and was perfectly resigned to go. He leaves property of the proba ble value of $25,000 to his wife Thus ends a good and useful life at the ripe old age of 84 years, 5 months and 3 days. Peace to his ashes. --------- ♦ F ob S ale .
