G o o d F ire Insurance
To those interested in good lire
insurance, the insuring public and
to Continental Agents, Gentlemen:
I take pleasure in banding you
herewith copy of a statement called
for by and tiled with the Superin*
teudent o f Insurance for State of
New York, showing the condition
of the Continental as of November 1,
1906, and giving information re
garding its Snn Francisco conflagra
tion losses.
You will noto that our San Fran
cisco losses are all paid; that they
amounted gross to something over
two and one-half million dollars,
and net to one and three-quarter
million dollars; and I desire to call
your attention, first to the fact that
every dollar of reinsurance has been
collected, showing that we selected
with care, second, our amount at
risk gross and net (for our assets)
was moderate and, of course, very
much less than we could have se
cured, and I can assure you that
the “ Continental”
will never be
found to have more at risk than it
can easily pay in case of conflagra
tion.
The “ Continental," you will see,
has assets Sixteen Million Dollars
and a Net Surplus of over Seven
and One-Half Million Dollars un
doubtedly the largest Net Surplus
of any Company doing business in
the United States.
Our Coast losses were paid cash
without discount and without com
promise because of the earthquake;
every claimant received one hun
dred cents for every dollar due him.
It seems hardly necessary to point
out to you that your best interests
and those of your customers will be
served by placing business with a
company that:
First— Restricts its acceptances
in the conflagration centres of the
great cities to a figure well within
its loss-paying ability;
Second—Does not patronize weak
concerns for reinsurance;
Third— Has ample Assets and the
1 i rgest Net Surplus reported to the
New York Insurance Department.
Fourth— Having sold fire insur
ance, pay its losses without quib
bling and without reference to what
other companies are doing,
Fifth— Is operating under the
Safety Fund Law of New York
State.
