OREGON î k f d à J I> Bennett, meals................ (Continuel! next week.) M yrtle P oin t Jottings. Among the recent happenings at our town, I noted the following: Chas. Endicott son of S. Endi- cott was taken to Marshfield on Saturday, the 21st, to be operated on for appendicitis. Homer Leep second son of Dr. Leep is just re covering from the same complaint. Miss Letta Cooper who has been teaching the Rackliff school for the past three months closed the school last Friday, the children will have a vacation. Mr. J . R. Benson has a crew of men placing the foundation for a large new residence. E. F. Davenport made a business trip to Roscburg leaving last Wed nesday. He has purchased the residence of Mr. Hartley on the railroad here, which was erected two years ago. Mr. Hartley and family will return to their ranch on the South Fork. Miss Mable Van DeCarr and her friend Miss Mildred Wilson who are living in Portland came in on Saturday for a weeks visit with friends in town. Mrs. Wm. Davis and two children who has been spending the past two mooths visiting friends at Santa Barbara and other Southern Cali fornia places, returned the 21st. Fred Chapman of Humboldt county California, who was in busi ness with Bert Davenport, sold his interest to his partner and went back to California on the last boat. The entertainment given by the members of the Presbyterian church at Benson Hall on Setnrday even ing was largely attended and a de cided success. Misa Violet Arring ton sang a song of her own compos ing, very nicely. It is entitled “I Loved Not Wisely But Too Well" Mrs. James Arrington and little daughter Hazel are on a visit to re latives at Marshfield. Mrs. L. Travers returned to her Myrtle Point home oo Friday to arrange for their removal to Marsh field immediately, Mr. Travers is already located there and in busi ness. The Latter Day Saints hold a camp meeting and reunion in Dixon’s grove to last ten days begin ning the 27th inst. Friends of Mrs. Marion Walker were shocked to learn of her sud den demise at Alameda California the 17 th inst. She was on her way home in company with Mrs. Dixon, when she was stricken. No partic ulars at this writing. Her son Allen will meet the re mains at Roseburg and have them in terred beside those of her late hus band W. H. Walker who proceeded her nearly three years ago. For the past two years Mrs. Walker has been traveling, visiting at many places from Alaska to Southern California, having spent most of the winter with her only sister, at Los Angeles. Her loss will be mourned by a legion of re latives and frieDds. A Warning to Mothers Too much care cannot be used with small childaen during the hot weather of the summer months to guard against bowel troubles. As a rule it is only necessry to give the child a dose of castor oil to cor rect any disorder of the bowelB. Do not use any substitute, but give the oldfashioned castor oil, and see that it is fresh, as rencid oil nause ates and has a tendency to gripe. If this does not check the bowels give Chanierlain’s Colic, Cholera und Diarrhoea Remedy and then a dose of castor oil, and the disease m aybe checked in its inciniency an l all danger avoid bed. The castor oil and this remedy should be procured at once and kept ready for instant use as soon as the first indication of any bowel trouble ap pears. This is the roost successful treatment known and may be re lied upon with implicit confi dence even in cases of cholera in fantum. For sale by R. S. Knowl ton.
