Ora Carter went to Gaylord Sat­ urday to visit friends. She returned Sunday. Mrs. Venice Gill is suffering from s very severe cold at this writing. Last Friday Dr. Wm. Horsfall, of Marshfield, and Dr. Richmond, o f Co­ quille, were in consultation with Dr. Clarke to see' Charles Ellis, who is very siak at Dr. Clarke’s Sanitarium. An exploratory operation was advised and immediately performed. His con dition waa found to be more critical than expected, but he rallied nicely from the operation. The M. E. Junior Choir, which fur­ nishes the music every Sunday morn- ing, will appear in their new Easter vestments Easter morning. Mrs. W. W. Baynes and son, Lewis, went to Eugene Saturday to visit Mrs. Baynes’ daughter and husband from Alaska. John L. Gary, o f Bandon, was doing business in our town Friday. Mrs. Miller went to Marshfield Fri day to select her new hats. She re­ turned the same evening. Mrs. C. C. Carter went to Marsh­ field last Friday to be with her sis­ ter, Mrs. Willard, who has just gone through an operation. Mrs. Carter returned Sunday evening. She says her sister is now doing nicely. Percy Peel went to Marshfield last Sunday on businass. A number o f girls motored to Co­ quille Saturday. Those in the party were Hazel and Flossie Radabaugh, Hilda Cartar and Marion Baynes. C. A. Davidson went to Marshfield Saturday morning to attend to im­ portant business. He returned Sun day evening. Max Dement and family came to town from their ranch last Friday and returned Sunday afternoon. Saturday evening the friends and relatives of Dewey Christensen were much surprised at his return. He was in Florida ready to sail for Franca when the armistice was sign­ ed. From there he was sent to Geor­ gia and then to Alabama. From Camp McClellan, Alabama, he was trans­ ferred to Camp Lewis for discharge. Addie Dow, o f Coquille, was visit­ ing friends here Tuesday. She also visited the high school in the after­ noon. Last Thursday afternoon a lrage number o f friends gavs a surprise party to Mabel Lundy at her home in honor o f her sixteenth birthday. The guest o f honor was away till about nine o’clock when on arriving home she was very much surprised to find ■he bouse full of young people. Mr. Williams has been aboard a cargo carrier since last August. He has visited South American, Japanese and French porta and expects his release from service about May fifteenth.
