W hile Mr. Powers says they some
times have bad men and inefficient
men o f the kind described in our last
week’s item in their camps, they nev
er keep them very long.
To clinch the matter, he says that
i f the “ well known citixen” we quoted
last week as expressing the opinion
that it was recklessness and waste in
the logging comps that necessitated
the receivership, w ill take charge-of
those camps and save one cent on
each thousand fast o f timber handled
by the Smith-Powers company he can
have a salary o f $10,000 a year.
The prominent citisen referred to
says that he can bring men, who have
been employed in the Smith-Powers
logging camps fo r years, who w ill
