Smith Lumber company were found on Isthmus Inlet Sunday night by Deputy Collector of Customs W. A. Clerks, who, with Nets Adam son, west on a chicking up expedi tion. Chase, who has had sev eral years’ experience in the cannery business and along horticultural lines. They will ean evergreen blackberries this season. Mr. Buchner bcliaves that the 80,- 000 or 40,000 poo pie tributary to the Coos Bey country should have e night train from Portland carrying both passengers end mail. Many districts r.ot as large as this, he says are much better supplied in that direction. In addition to the poor rail ser vice, he says, tho telephone system to very poor end the telegraph system not much better. For example he cites an instance when he tried from four to six hours to get telephone con nection from North Bend to Portland.
