gineers by th e Bandon V eneer and
Plywood Association seeking a
perm it to construct a w harf and
piling for a log dum p In th e Co­
quille R iv er n ear Arago.
T he site of th e proposed w harf
b e g i n s one m ile dow nstream
(N ortheast) from Arago and ex ­
tends about 1.000 feet. T he chan-
nelw ard lim it will be 25 feet from
th e m ean low er low w ater line.
If th e p erm it is granted, a single
| pile will also be driven 50 feet
upstream and one pile 50 feet
dow nstream from th e wharf. These
piles w ill b e 40 feet from th e
m ean low er low w ater line T he
rem ainder of th e w ork will be
com prised of shore piling which
will be driven a t or landw ard from
the m ean low er low w ater line.

Wage Suits Filed
Against Two Firms
Tw o com plaints h av e been filed
by D avid Rice against Coos C oun­
ty lu m b er com panies. N am ed as
d efendants a re Coast Pacific L um ­
ber com pany and Coos H ead T im ­
ber com pany.
Both suits seek to recover back
1 wages owed m em bers of Local
7-116 1WA-CIO. According to the
I com plaints, both com panys agreed
in Septem ber, 1954, to accept any
recom m endation for a w age in ­
crease th e fact finding panel
would m ake and th a t th e increase
would be retro activ e to th e date
when th e m en should re tu rn to
work afte r th e lu m b er strike.
T he com plaint states th a t men
retu rn ed to w ork on S eptem ber
13, 1954, at both com panies and
th a t th e w age decision w as
reached on Decem ber 22. Both
com panes have refused to pay th e
added wages due th e men from
I S eptem ber 13 to J a n u a ry 1, 1955,
according to th e com plaint.
