A banquet for teachers w ill be
held at the Tioga hotel on Tues
day, September 26, at 6:30 p. m.
This group is sponsored by the
county division of the Oregon
State Teachers’ association. They
w ill have as guest speakers Lucille
Klinge, county school superinten
dent, Eugene, and M arble Cook,
field representative for the Ore
gon Education association. In ad
dition to the speakers, a portion of
the evening w ill be spent in sing
ing and fun.

Apple Dumplings
from “The Norge Cookbook”
8 medium apples
cup butter
1 teaspoon cinnamon
lV i cups brown sugar
teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon grated lemon rind
Pare and core apples. M ix
brown sugar, butter, salt, cin
namon and lemon rind together
and fill each apple cavity with
part of mixture. Roll baking
powder biscuit dough to % -
inch thickness; cut into squares
large enough to cover apple.
Place apple on each square and
bring comers together, by
moistening edges and pinching
dough to hold apple in place.
Bake in moderate oven 350 de
gress F. Serve with plain lem
on sauce. Makes eight dump
lings.

’ Despite the publicity given the
new law that says all drivers of
vehicles shall stop where a school
bus is loading or unloading school
children, there seems to be many
drivers who have never heard of it.
What makes the violation of that
law doubly dangerous here is that
such large segments of our road
is in the form of dust, which takes
to the air with each passing ear,
that a car following one which
didn’t stop for the bus might not
even see the bus or children due
to the blinding dust.
This is a plea to parents and
drivers who are not parents to
help your teachers and bus drivers
protect your children and your
neighbors’ dhildren by stopping
wherever you see a bus loading or
