Schroeder purchased the funeral
business in Coquille, and Bandon
from A rthur E. Ellingson.

Bandon chapel was managed until
the disastrous fire of Sept. 1930,

Auxiliary Installs
New Officers
The American Legion A u xili­
ary's formal installation of officers
was conducted Tuesday night by
retiring president, Dorothy Burr.
She was presented with the past
president’s pin in appreciation of
her work.
Alice Klenz was installed as
new president; Viola Hansen, first
vice - president; Marvene Lake,
second vice - president;
Dulcie
Knox, secretary-treasurer; Ruth
D ey, seregant - at - arms; Maude
Jarvis, historian, and Clara M or­
ley, chaplain.
Honored guests were the women
who have been chosen '‘Woman
of the Month” by the Auxiliary.
These distinguished women, M ar­
tha Purdy, Ida Oerding, Clara
Stauff, Georgia Richmond, Mabel
K unz, Eula Schram, and Mabel
Hughes were all presented with a
corsage Mrs. Hughes has recent­
ly been chosen July Woman of the
Month.
Honored women unable to at­
tend were Florence Barton, Flor­
ence Berg, and Louise Bunch
Mrs. Klenz finished the business
w ith the announcement of her
standing committee chairmen and!
then the gathering was entertain­
ed w ith several vocal selections by
Joan Newton.
From a table beautifully ap­
pointed with silver and summer
flowers, coffee, open-face sand­
wiches and hors-d‘oevres were
served. Mesdames Belle Bellonl
and Jane Torrey poured.

Sunday, July 24, from 10 a. m. on
w ill mark a record of progress of
both the thriving city of Bandon
and the Schroeder family, pioneer
morticians of Cooa and Curry
counties.
The floor plans were drawn by
the four members of Schroeder
Bros, and the designing was done
by Williams and Smeed, Portland
architects.
Work was started
early in 1948 and delays and bad
