A Thought
So I see my own race go,
Marching to tlfe beat of time,
Not one faster, not one slow, •
(Words, that f it the cosmic rhyme),
L ittle lights the way that m ark
From the Whither to the Hence.
Great the circle, small our arc
Of the hid circumference.
As the star moves on and on,
Circling thro a circled space,
Carrying its horizon
Steadfastly before its face,
Some day we, w ith glad surprise,
Shall find Death but greater birth
Into greater life which lies
On beyond the place called Earth.
