    Minor Mention
Out on th# Oregon coast highway
between Coaiedu and Coquille, and
opposite the John Yoakam farm, is a
government industry managed by the
Southwest Engineering Co. of Loe
Angeles, under the direction of their
superintendent, R. W. Clarite.
This is the reduction plant which
handles chrome concentrates from the
j Humphries Gold corporation and the
Krome corporation black sand mining
about seven miles west of the reduc­
tion plant, from which mines trucks
are delivering to the highway ln-
’ dustry concentrates during every
¡hour of the 34 in a day.
This activity, reduction plant and
the mines, hold out promises of
heavy royalties to Coos county, which
I owns a major portion of the land ba­
ling mined. The royalties, however,
have not commenced coming, for, ac-
; cording to Supt. Clarke, no shipments
of chrome have been made.
