Neighborhood Bridge Club
Elect Officers
Mrs. Dan Melton entertained mem- j
bora of her bridge club un Wednes-
day afternoon at her home. The club
has lost Mrs. Ted Balcom, who has
moved from Coquille recently and
gained Mrs. Harold Stromquist in
her place. Mrs. Fred Hudson won
high score and Mrs. Frank Martin
was second high.
Also attending
were Mesdames Irving Larson, Don
Gillespie, Georgp Johnson and Ken­
nett Lawrence.
Guild Meeting

Last Friday evening Uie Coquille
Aerie of Eagles held its annual elec­
tion of officers.
Those elected to office were Loa I
Hickenbottom, Junior Past Worthy
President; Evan W. Alburn, Worthy
I President; A. A. Kyle, Worthy Vice
I President; James N. Jacobsen. Worthy
Chaplain; F. R. Bull, secretary;
Richard Anderson, treasurer; Glenn
Storey, conductor; Wm. O. Owens, in-
< side guard; John McNair, outside
guard; E. C. Yarbrough, trustee for
one year; and Earl E. Adams, trus­
tee for three years.
j The present officers retire from of­
fice on June 1 after seeing the Eagles
through a very successful year. Un­
der ti**ir splendid leadership the
membership has grown to more than
500.
Mr. and Mr*. Graydon
Crews Parents
Mrs. Hazel Hanna has just received
a letter from Mrs. Graydon Craws,
of Annapolis, Maryland. In it was
the announcement of the birth of an
infant daughter, Sandra Lynn, who
arrived on May 5. The baby's father.
Lieutenant Graydon Crews, was
principal of the Lincoln school and
left here a year ago last September,
going to Seattle, later to Chicago, and
now is studying airulogy at the U. S.
Naval Academy at Annapolis. Mrs.
Crews, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
George Herman, of Myrtle Point,
taught at the Valley View school und
was un active member of ttie local
Business and Professional Women's
Club, being at the time of leaving
here on the executive board. Mrs.
Crews wished to have the news of
the baby's arrival reach her Coquille
friends.
• Mrs. Jay Freeman, McKinley route,
entered for treatment; Mrs. Mary
Fuller, Bandon, underwent a major
operation, and Betty June, six-year
old daughter of Ellsworth Willett on
the McKinley route, submitted to an
appendectomy; all last Thursday..
Harold Watzling, Myrtle Point, en­
tered for treatment on Friday, and
June RikdT* Bandon, underwent an
appendectomy on Sunday.
Gano Cornwall, Coquille, under­
went a major operation on Monday.
A 7 Vi pound baby boy was born to
Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Robison of Arago
on Tuesday.
The same day Roy Campbell, of
Riverton, submitted to an appen­
dectomy.
A 7 Mi pound baby girl, who has
been named Marcia Lynn, was born
to Mr. and Mrs. Cedric Cross, who
live below Riverton, yesterday. :
Also yesterday Mrs. Gus Schroeder,
Arago, entered for treatment; Jack
Cardwell, of Fairview, entered for
medical attention, and Mrs. Mary
Eaker, of Bandon, had her teeth' ex­
tracted by Dr. J^R. Bunch.
Dismissals have been Mrs. Chas
