Snell Approves Wild Life Bill at North Snell To Conserve Rubber In Campaign In the firs^of a aeWes of campaign speeches, Earl Snell, republican can­ didate for governor, stressed the need for experienced-leadership in the four critical years ahead. Pledging his best efforts toward solution of Ore­ gon’s vexing governmental problems, Mr. Snell stated: “This is no ordinary election. The next governor will be entrusted with extraordinary powers and authority necessitated by the war emergency. The next legislature will undoubtedly be called upon to enact legislation to expand and intensify the war effort of the state. It will then be the gov­ ernor’s job to make that legislation effective." Snell stated that his campaign for governor -would be conservative and inexpensive. He will not make a tour of the state because of the tire short­ age. 4 His talk emphasized the need fur a constructive and definite program for the return of the men of the armed forces to civilian life and to meet the inevitable economic, political and so­ cial problems of the post war period.
