Thursday evening marked the end
of the Home Nursing and Hygiene
Red Cross course that a number of
the ladies have been taking. Those to
take the final examination were Mrs.
Rex Brown, Mrs. Lyman King and
Velva, Mrs. Frank Haney, Mrs. Red
Thorpe, Mrs. Ole Newton, Mrs, Reu­
ben W. Brown, Mrs. Henry Hansen,
Mrs. Kenneth Hansen and Mrs. Leon­
ard Lawhorne, under the direction
of Mrs. John Rhule, who was the
instructor.
The Juvenile Orange hall was dedi­
cated Saturday night. Morton Tomp­
kins, state master, was present to
take his place as dedicating officer.
Mrs. L. Rena Slack, state Juvenile
superintendent; Elmer McClure, state
overseer and state district deputy;
Henry Gustafson, county deputy and
a member of the state executive com­
mittee, and Mrs. Hilda Richer, dis­
trict Juvenile, chairman, were present
and each gave talks that were very
interesting, at the supper table.
Honste Selfors gave a violin solo and
solo. Both are of North Bayside Ju­
venile Grange. The members of our
own Juvenile Grange who helped
with the work were: Jimmy Church-
Ill, master; JoAnne Newton, chaplain;
Dona Jane Krewsen, lecturer; John
O’Sullivan, overseer; Arden Laird,
as secretary; little Miss Fenley, of
North Bayside, as treasurer; Glade
Krewsen, steward; Verne Lu Morse,
Ceres; Evelyn Oberman, Flora; Mil­
dred Strade, Pomona; Jerry O’Sulli­
van, gatekeeper; Marvin Brown, asst,
steward; Colleen Shephard, lady asst.
Steward; with Ellen Strade, Jimmy
Newton, Rosalee Laird and Glade
Krewson as altar bearers, and Myr-
lln Oberman as Bible carrier. Rosa­
lee Laird also acted as flag bearer
and led the song, “Star Spangled
Banner" and Allegiance to the Flag.
Mrs. Reuben W. Brown sat in her
usual place beside the master. Mrs.
Clarion Miller sang the altar song
and dedication ode, while Mrs. Mil­
ford Mast played the organ. ■
The membera of McKinley were
very proud to learn that they are the
first in the state of Oregon to dedi­
cate a Juvenile Hall. This is also
the first in many years if not the
first time for McKinley Grange to
entertain a state inaster.
Mr. and Mrs. “Red" Thorpe enter­
tained a group of friends at a party
dance Saturday night, held in the
Cherry Creek hail.
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Beavers, of
Long Beach, California, called on
Mrs. Henry Hansen last Wednesday
evening and stayed overnight. Mr.
Beavers is a cousin of Mrs. Hansen,
being <drs. Hansen’s mother’s young­
est sister’s son.
Mrs. Glenn Hutton, of Coquille, was
an all-day visitor of Mrs. Henry Han­
sen last Thursday.
Mr. and Mm. Geo. Glenn, Mrs. Mil­
ford Mast and Gene were visitors
Mooday with Mrs. Al Grenill, of Em­
pire.
Mattel Wilcox, of Salt Lake City,
expressed her desire to be remem­
bered to all her old friends in a letter
received by Mrs. Geo. Glenn Monday.
