LB VALLEY SENTINEL, COQUILLE, OREGON, THURSDAY, APRIL 3. 1943. —'"-T- ...... —rnmn in ■ ; Red Cross Names Disaster Relief, Evacuation Heads Each conununity in Coo* county is being organized for disaster relief and evacuation purpose* under a combined committee serving the American Red Cross and the Coo* county civilian defense council, it was announced today by L. A. Blanc, of Marshfield, county Red ¿ toss chairman. Because each community in the county might be isolated from ail others, its own organization is com plete as to personnel and equipment. Inventories of food are being made, clothing is being stored, and all work ers are ready at an instant’*, notice to hurry to central headquarters to set up emergency office* from which feeding sheltering, treating or evac uating of the entire population can be carried on. Because America is at war, the na tional Red Cross ha* issued a virtual blank check to county chairmen to requisition supplies and money to combat any type of disaster, Whether caused by enemy action -or by local causes that could endanger the na tion’s economy or war production. J. B. Bedingfield, of Marshfield, is chairman of the disaster relief com mittee, assisted by the following who have complete charge in their com munities: L H. Roy Mothers Club Roy Mothers club met Tuesday, March SI, with the president, Mary Johnson, presiding. There was a short business meeting at which time a discus* ion was given to the matter of report cards. The feeling seems general that the present system used for grading primary work might be improved. No decision was made yet a* to what change to make. Mrs. Ed Detlefsen drew the lucky number and received the prize. The next meeting will be the evening of April 14, with Mrs. Lorene Willard and Opal Bucklek, hostesses.
