Rebekahs Going To ; Camp Fire Girls 1 Ceremonial Tuesday Bandon Tonight Officers and members at Bandon's Rebekah lodge will be’ invited here October 14 for Freak Night, a stunt program being arranged by Harriet Schaer, Lois Fenn and Myrtle Ben ham. Prizes and penalties will be awarded to or exacted from Rebekahs, according to committee members, who already have elaborate plans under way for the evening. Another an nouncement made Tuesday evening at the regular meeting of Mamie Re bekah lodge, at which Edith Gruen- wald, noble grand, presided, was that local lodge members would go to Ban don Thursday, September 25, for a beach party. Headquarters will be the A. O. Walker cabin. The Three Links Sewing club will meet Sep tember 30 with Myrtle Benham. Refreshments were served after lodge meeting by Mildred Schaer, ' ' Working On Air Base At Midway Wm. H. Smith, son of Mrs. Eliza beth Kalkhorst left Tuesday to re turn to his work after a three week's visit in Coquille. He went sduth to Alameda, Calif., and from there will take a crew with him to Midway Is lands in the Pacific where the gov ernment is building an air base and he is mechanical superintendent of construction. Mr. Smith is also a nephew of E. A. Wimer. He says there are several Coos county men on the job at Midway, one of them being Hugh Hamilton of Coquille. Keys made for all locks. Milne will award some of the pins that will be given to over 75 local Camp Fire girls Tuesday eve ning at the Camp Fire Ceremonial to be held Tuesday at 8 p. m. at the high school auditorium. Walker, president of Bundles for Britain, Inc.; Miss Cherie Mae Hartwell, president of the local Camp Fire Guardians asso ciations; and Mr. Barker, represent- ~ Camp ing the Navy Recruiting office at Marshfield. The pins, which are being awarded to the girls to show appreciation for the manner in which they had ad hered to the ideals embodied in Camp Fire, are called “Give Service” pins. At present 68 girls are actively en gaged in Camp Fire work here. Camp Fire is the only youth organization outside of the churches for local girls. It affords the only recreational pro gram for all girls. There are no re strictions governing membership in Camp Fire. Following the Ceremonial, the Co- quilla Group will present a play, “Our Town, America,” which gives a deep insight into the work on the Camp Wumenì Society of Christian Ser Fire Girls.
