the national capital desires to squeeze
out all private companies in Oregon
and Washington, but this view is not
e-tertained by the PUDs. A brisk
Ixittle can be expected over this issue
before the adjournment of congress.
At the present rate, most of the
communities In Washington and Ore­
gon will be given a new airport or
present facilities improved in the
three-way combination of army air
corps, Civil Aeronautics authority and
PWA. In the past ten days several
million dollars have been allocated
for airports, and additional towns are
expected to be taken care of. The
army wishes a vast network of air­
ports, which suits the CAA and PWA,
as well as the various communities.
Army air corps will not maintain
these ports, but wishes to have them
available at any time for practice
maneuvers. There are at least two
dozen more towns In Washington and
Oregon where the government will
spend money.
Several million dollars will be made
available for improving the Pacific
highwAy up to military standards. .

located before troops can be moved
from Fort Lewis to camps in Cali­
