Strong & MacDonald, of Tacoma,
were the low bidders for the Coquille
river north jetty improvement it was
found when the bids were opened at
the army engineers' office in Portland
last Thursday
Their bid was for
>342,250, which was >8,000 above Ujg
engineering estimate.
Other bids
ran as high as »34,000.
The job includes rebuilding the
stone section of the jetty, construc­
tion of a cofferdam from 55,000 cubic
yards of stone at the outer end, and
a solid concrete slab on top, made of
10,000 cubic yards of concrete, and
is expected to be completed next
year.
