tion which is in regard to the final
date for filing original applications
for adjusted compensation by vet­
erans of the World War. The last
date on which such applications can
be filed is next Tuesday, Jan. 2:

Under the provisions of Section
312, Subdivision (B) ot the World
War Adjusted Compensation Act of
1924, as amended, the last date on
which an original application for ad­
justed service credit may be filed
with the service department is Jan­
uary 2, 1940.
■ Th service departments have ad­
vised that for the purpose ot this sec­
tion of the Act, all applications or
letters relating thereto, received in
the Veterans Administration, Wash­
ington, D. C., or its regional offices
or facilities throughout the country,
if stamped as received in such of­
fices on or before January 2, 1940,
will be accepted on that date.
All veterans who desire to obtain
the benefits of adjusted compensation
and have not applied should file
WWC No. 1 or an informal applica­
tion, with impression of finger prints
of right hand (in cases of deceased
veterans, the dependents, wife, chil­
dren, mother or father should file in
the order named) prior to midnight
of January 2, 1940. In the case of
an incompetent veterans with fidu­
ciary, the legal representative should
fjle the application. Where the vet­
eran is mentally incapacitated and
confined in a hospital without- a
guardian, the application should be
filed by the region manager (medical
officer in charge). If there is a doubt
regarding the filing of the original
application, an application should be
filed before the expiration date.

Farm Security Administration will
urge funds with which to increase the
number of migratory labor camps in
both Oregon and Washington. Legis­
lation will be offered proposing the
federal government make substantial
contribution toward maintenance and
expansion of municipal airports.
There is a possibility of two reclama­
tion projects in eastern Oregon being
favorably reported. Four more coun­
ties in each of the two states will be
included in the tenant and share­
cropper program, enabling eligibles to
buy farms under the Bankhead act.
A possible recommendation by the
president for construction of military
highways—improving Pacific and
Columbia highways for the purpose—
as part of national defense and a spe­
cific appropriation for the purpose.
