The attorney who invited me on the deer hunt says that on the range where we are to hunt that there are a least 2,000 bucks and it is not a large range at that. A game warden informed me that on the opening day last season that he and a party of nine were gone just an hour from his house and all bagged the limit of deer and that he killed his from a herd of 45 big bucks. And to think of it—I used to think there were lots of anglers in Coos county on opening day! This is a beautiful city. To look it over it appears a sleepy, alow moving affair, but hell lurks in every shadow nook and alley and one needs a bodyguard to venture into it during the night hours. The riff-, raff of the city has collected there. All nationalities are represented, Mexicans, Negroes, Greeks, etc. Hop heads run amuck, knives flash and guns roar at pretty regular intervals. All in all, it is a pretty good place to stay away from. If things go as we plan, we expect to return to Coos next spring for the summer, as we have no desire to go through another Session with the heat here such as we have experienced this summer. , We are enjoying ourselves at the Townsend meetings here and are ser ving on several committees at the present time and also had the honor of addressing the club here last week.
