Council Session
Mr. and Mn. C. A. Stelzer of Rose­
burg visited at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Glen Richardson and family
Sunday and Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Dunberg of
Black Butte, Ore. visited at the home
of her sister and family, Mr. and
Mrs. Cortland Ellis last Sunday. A
family reunion was held at the Phillip
Jensen home.
Norma Jean Farmer, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fanner, un­
derwent an appendicitis operation
at the Mast hospital in Myrtle Point
last Friday.
Mrs. J. A. Dehdmond has been ill
at her home the past week.
Funeral services were held at the
Gano Funeral home last Saturday
for Marion Skinner, 60, who died at
his home in Fairview. He is sur­
vived by his widow, Mrs. Ellen Skin­
ner, five daughters, Mrs. Nellie Van-
derford and Mrs. Evaline Usher ot
Houlton, Ore., Mrs. Ellen Surratt and
Mrs. Ollie Brasmar of St. Helen, Ore.,
and Mrs. Maggie Anderson of Wil­
liams, Arizona and two sons Clarence
of San Fernando, Calif, and W. P.
Pacoima, Calif.
The Riverside school children be­
gan their studies on Tuesday of this
week.
The school house having
burned during the summer, the school
is being held in the teacherage. The
teacher is Miss Ida Oerding of Co­
quille.
Mr. and Mrs. William McKinley
were week-end guests of Mr. and
Mrs. T. H. Benham. Kay .McKinley
returned home with them after
spending several days with Mrs. Ben­
ham.

Californians Ask
About Oregon
C. M. Doyle, fortner Arago resi­
dent who has been in southerm Cali­
fornia, at Wilmington, for some time,
arrived here Sunday for a few days’
visit, while he is recuperating from
an illness which kept him in a Long
Beach hospital for some time. He
says there are hundreds of people in
southern California, who are look­
ing with longing eyes toward Oregon
and many of whom plan to come
north.
They are not an indigent
class either,'many of them having be­
come will fixed through oil develop­
ment and now wish to get away from
that sort of an atmosphere.
Myrtle Point News
Mr. and Mrs. Don McCulloch and
four children arrived Saturday from
their home at Orland, Calif, for a
week’s visit at the home of the for­
mer’s father, J. M. McCulloch.
Mrs. Jennie Wood and Miss June
Chandler spent the week-end in Port­
land, returning Monday.
Miss Jean Chandler, who has been
visiting relatives for the past month,
returned Sunday to her home at Eu­
reka, California.
