legislative nominations at the May
20 primaries.
Some are painfully
pathetic in their revelation of blissful
ignorance or brassy truculence. A
few reveal courage and intelligence.
Occasionally there is an appeal to
reason. Mostly the appeals are to
group selfishness or popular preju­

Oregon is making a strong bid for
tourist travel this year, according to
Harold B. Say, in charge of the travel
information bureau of the state high­
way department In addition to at­
tractive advertisements in magazines
of nation-wide circulation, display
booths are also being maintained in
two of the nation’s outstanding spring
travel shows—the one at Los Angeles
this week sponsored by the Automo­
bile Club of Southern California, and
one at Chicago sponsored by the In­
ternational Travel Exposition, April
28 to May 1.
The first public school administra­
tor’s credential to be issued by the
Oregon state board of education un­
der a recently adopted regulation,
went to Dr. J. F. Cramer, superin­
tendent .of schools at Eugene. Cer­
tificate number 2 went to James M.
Burgess, heed of the Milton-Freewa­
ter school, and the third certificate
went to Austin Landreth, of Pendle­
ton. A total of 68 school adminis­
trators have already applied for the
new certificates.
Filmed partly on location in Wash­
ington for snow sequences, the new
comedy-drama, “Paradise for Three,”
opens Thursday at the Roxy Theatre
for a three-day engagement.
The cast, including Frank Morgan,
Robert Young, Mary Astor, Edna May
Oliver, Florence Rice, Reginald Owen,
Henry Hull and Herman Bing made
the location trip with Director Ed­
ward N. Buzzell.
