A long, left-handed pitcher. Bob
Hardy, of Grant* Pass and Ashland,
was on the mound for Coquille last
Sunday and as a result the T/>ggers
managed to beat the “Convicts,” 11
to 2. The result on Monday was not
the same, the locals going down to
defeat, 14 to 5, with Rocky Peterson
on the mound.
Hardy displayed an array of slants
that had the "Convicts” swinging at
thin air. The southpaw, despite his
youthful years, looked the part of a
inoundster and missed a shutout only
by two reverse breaks, a brace of er­
rors In the fifth and a walk in the
v ninth.
His curve, fast one, and
change of pace were working effec­
tively.
The Loggers won the contest in the
initial frame when a combination of
five hits brought in six runs. Later,
in the fifth, another barrage of three
hits, together with a pair of walks,
brought in four more scores,
The
eleventh counter crossed in the sev-
enth without the aid ot a blow.

Goodyear Will Broadcast
Digest Election Poll
The Goodyear Tire A Rubber Com­
pany, announces that it has just com­
pleted arrangements to broadcast
three times a week for nine weeks
the results of the Literary Digest’s
presidential poll. This will be the
first time the Digest's copyrighted
figures, which have a record of fore­
casting elections with unusual accur­
acy, will be made available regularly
over the air under dual sponsorship.
Goodyear has arranged with the edi­
tors of the Digest to make the returns
public on a nation-wide network of
NBC stations beginning Wednesday
night, September 2, and continuing
